Employer Health Plan RxDC Reporting Reminder

As a gentle reminder, under Section 204(of Title II, Division BB) of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (CAA), insurance companies and employer health plans must submit information about prescription drugs and health care spending. This data submission is called the RxDC report. The Rx stands for prescription drug and the DC stands for data collection. The RxDC report isn’t only about prescription drugs but also collects information about spending on health care services and premium paid by members and employers.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services collects the report on behalf of the Departments of Health and Human Services, the Department of Labor, the Department of Treasury, and the Office of Personnel Management.

Instructions on what and how to file can be found at CMS.gov

Insurance carriers offer varied services for the collection and reporting of this data.

There are some insurance carriers that have already collected the data from employers in the form of surveys which will allow them to file all segments of the reporting on the employer’s behalf. Whereas other carriers will only file some segments of the reports; segments such as D1 and P2 will be the responsibility of the employer to file.

If you require assistance with filing the RxDC report (segments D1 and P2), Kelly and Associates and MZQ Consulting are combining efforts to simplify this process and assist for a fee.  Further information about their services can be found here.

Please note that the deadline to file the RxDC report is June 1, 2023.

We appreciate your compliance in this very important matter and thank you for your continued trust and partnership
