Job Description

R.K. Tongue Co. is seeking an ambitious Account Executive to join our DC/VA Professional Markets team. In this position, the successful Account Executive will be responsible for managing the insurance portfolios of existing clients as well as marketing and selling employee benefits, life / health and property / casualty insurance products to individuals and small businesses, predominantly in the healthcare professions. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented producer to build a substantial book of business. The position provides unlimited earning potential and advancement opportunities to a career-minded individual.

  • Identify prospects from existing and prospective clients
  • Maintain a consistently strong and active new business pipeline
  • Develop new relationships
  • Aggressively identify and pursue cross-selling opportunities amongst existing clients

Job Requirements

  • Current Property / Casualty and Life/ Health Licenses preferred – Company paid licensing considered for the right candidate
  • 2-years licensed insurance agent/broker experience strongly preferred

Health insurance and Employee Benefits Producer – Northern Virginia

A successful Account Executive will prospect for and produce high volumes of employee benefits and health insurance for dentists as well as small & mid-market businesses in Virginia and D.C. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented producer to build a substantial book of business by leveraging relationships and cross-selling to existing R. K. Tongue Company clients. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and goal-oriented with a strong competitive drive.

The position will handle daily contact with Employee Benefits clients and prospective clients. The responsibilities of this role include prospecting for new clients, visiting clients and prospects, handling service requests, coordinating renewals, working with underwriters to place coverage, etc.

Job Requirements

  • 2 years of Health Insurance sales experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Life and Health Insurance License (DC &VA)
  • Robust Affordable Care Act knowledge or consulting experience preferred
  • Home office including phone, fax and internet access
  • Must be able to work independently

Employee Benefits Broker – Baltimore

R.K. Tongue Co. is seeking an ambitious and experienced, Maryland Employee Benefits Broker to join our Professional Markets team.

A successful Broker will prospect for and produce high volumes of employee benefits and health insurance for dentists as well as small & mid-market businesses in Maryland

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented broker to build a substantial book of business by leveraging relationships and cross-selling to existing R. K. Tongue Company clients. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and goal-oriented with a strong competitive drive.

The position will handle daily contact with Employee Benefits clients and prospective clients. The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Achieve new business and retention goals. Seek new lines of coverage for current and new clients and act on cross-sell opportunities
  • Oversee the implementation process of new business and renewals, including group meetings, enrollment, submission, and delivery of administrative materials.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key client contacts
  • Maintain relationships with carrier representatives, staying abreast of new products, carrier procedural changes and market trends. Attend seminars, classes and carrier meetings to keep abreast of new products available to clients, as opportunities occur.
  • Ensure clients are up-to-date on compliance requirements (e.g. ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, SPDs, Form 5500s) through meetings, webinars, legislative updates and other resources.
  • Liaise between clients and carrier representatives on escalated service issues and problem solving, assuring clients their concerns remain active until verifiably complete.
  • Attend marketing events such as component society meetings, seminars and conferences.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and related training
  • 2 years of Health Insurance sales experience
  • Life and Health Insurance License (MD)
  • Proficiency using an electronic filing system and an Agency Management System such as AMS360 to log activities to document client meetings, carrier follow-up, service issues and establish follow-up dates.
  • Robust Affordable Care Act knowledge or consulting experience preferred
  • Home office including phone, fax and internet access
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Ability to communicate complex rules to clients and employees to achieve and facilitate decision making
  • High degree of professionalism and must be a self-starter, motivated, and driven to succeed

Customer Service Representative – Baltimore

R.K. Tongue Co. Inc. is seeking an ambitious and experienced, Customer Service Representative to join our Professional Markets team.

Responsibilities:

  • Quality servicing of clients
  • Assist clients with policy questions and issues
  • Obtain missing/additional information from clients for renewal insurance applications
  • Process new business policies, endorsements, renewals, and cancellations using various insurance company web portals and internal agency management system
  • Assist clients with billing and payment issues
  • Handle, process, and follow-up on claims
  • Create certificates of insurance
  • Educate and recommend available protection to complement new and existing policies
  • Develop strong customer relationships

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills, particularly the ability to listen, understand, and explain insurance information to policyholders and others
  • Good interpersonal skills for responding to inquiries with an excellent telephone manner
  • Good organization and decision making skills
  • Valid MD Property/Casualty and Life/Health Insurance license, but will train the right person. Must obtain licenses within 3 months of employment
